The Oxford Migration Studies Society (OMSS) has announced its 2026 annual conference under the theme:

“Migration, Justice, and the Making of Futures.”

The conference invites critical reflection on what just futures for migrants might look like in a time marked by restrictive migration policies, hostile political environments, and shifting cultural attitudes.

The programme aims to explore how justice, care, and collective futures are being reimagined across borders and disciplines. Organisers are particularly interested in innovative and interdisciplinary approaches that foreground migrant-led and community-driven perspectives.

Submissions are welcome from a wide range of disciplines and formats, including:

  • Ongoing or completed academic research
  • Documentary film
  • Creative writing, including poetry

Abstracts must not exceed 250 words.


Presentation and Publication Opportunities

Applicants may:

  • Apply to present as conference panelists
  • Request consideration for publication in a special issue of Routed Magazine, an online publication focused on migration and (im)mobility

Applicants may apply for both opportunities, although acceptance to both is not guaranteed.
