The Arab Reform initiative (ARI), are organising a webinar to discuss the latest update in Syria.
This webinar examines the latest developments in Syria, particularly focusing on the unexpected offensive by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the Syrian National Army (SNA), which has disrupted a four-year stalemate under Assad’s dominance. Key topics include:
- The local dynamics driving HTS and SNA offensives.
- HTS’s shift from global jihadism toward localized governance in Idlib.
- The implications for Syrians living under HTS and SNA control.
- Interactions among major armed groups: HTS, SNA, and SDF.
- Potential impacts on Syria’s broader political process.
Speakers:
- Moderator: Nadim Houry
- Patrick Haenni: Senior Advisor, Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD)
- Rim Turkmani: Syria Research Director and Senior Research Fellow, LSE
