The International Contest for Minority Artists returns for its fourth edition in 2025, inviting submissions under the theme “Belonging, Place, and Loss.” This competition aims to amplify the voices of minority artist human rights defenders, fostering dialogue around critical issues of identity, community, and culture.
Theme: Belonging, Place, and Loss
The 2025 theme encourages artists to explore the intersections of:
- Minority Rights and Experiences: Reflecting on identity and belonging.
- Environmental Justice and Climate Change: Examining the impact on minority communities.
- Cultural Loss: Highlighting the loss of language, community, and traditions.
Eligibility
- Open to artists who identify as members of a national, ethnic, religious, or linguistic minority.
- Submissions must include high-quality electronic images of up to five works of art related to the 2025 theme.
Awards
- Three non-hierarchical awards for outstanding submissions.
- One Minority Artist Award for Youth recognizing young talent.
- Winners will be announced in November 2025.

- Fill out the English entry form or submit in other available languages:
- Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, French, or Russian.
- Deadline for submissions: 1 March 2025.

The contest is part of the Minority Artists for Human Rights Initiative (2024–2028), a program by OHCHR in collaboration with:

- City of Geneva
