This PhD position aims to tackle the challenges of aging infrastructure, climate change, and rapid urbanization, with a special focus on resource-constrained regions like the Global South. The project will integrate resilience and sustainability concepts to create future-proof urban infrastructure systems.

Role Description
The selected candidate will:
- Develop theoretical and empirical frameworks for resilient and sustainable urban infrastructure.
- Analyze datasets, including pavement management systems, weather data, and traffic projections.
- Model infrastructure performance under extreme weather and climate change scenarios.
- Apply machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to generate novel datasets.
- Contribute to policies that improve infrastructure management in resource-limited settings.
Eligibility Criteria
Academic Background:
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Operations Research, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
Skills Required:
- Expertise in infrastructure systems management and network optimization.
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and geospatial tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Strong analytical, communication, and technical writing skills.

Employment Details
- Duration: 4 years (1.5 years initially, followed by 2.5 years after a successful go/no-go assessment).
