The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR), in collaboration with the AU Department of Peace, Security, and Political Affairs (DPAPS), invites submissions for its Hybrid Joint Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) in Sudan. This initiative aims to collect comprehensive documentation of human rights violations stemming from the ongoing conflict in Sudan, enabling monitoring, assessment, and targeted response efforts.
Areas of Concern
The FFM seeks detailed reports across the following areas:
- Civil and Political Rights Violations
- Arbitrary arrests and detentions
- Denial of fair trial rights
- Suppression of freedoms of expression and assembly
- Restrictions on political and civic engagement
- Socio-Economic and Cultural Rights Violations
- Denial of access to essential services (healthcare, education, housing)
- Violations affecting cultural practices and traditional livelihoods
- Personal Security and Integrity
- Enforced disappearances
- Torture and extrajudicial killings
- Sexual and gender-based violence
- Violence against vulnerable groups
- Impact on Vulnerable Populations
- Effects on women, children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and displaced persons
- Humanitarian Concerns
- Obstructions to humanitarian access
- Attacks on humanitarian personnel or facilities
- Environmental and Property Rights
- Destruction of property and forced displacement
- Environmental damage affecting communities and livelihoods
Submission Guidelines
FFM welcome contributions from individuals, civil society organizations, national human rights institutions, and other stakeholders.
Content of Submissions:
- Detailed descriptions of incidents (dates, locations, involved parties)
- Witness and survivor statements
- Photographic, video, or other media evidence
- Recommendations on prevention, protection, and reparations, including measures to address impunity and accountability for crimes under international law
