The University of Sussex, as a University of Sanctuary, is offering fully funded Masters scholarships for Palestinian students, particularly those displaced by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Scholarship Details

Eligibility Criteria
Who Can Apply
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a Palestinian applicant with an offer to study a Masters degree at the University of Sussex, starting in September 2025.
- Hold Palestinian ID/travel documents.
- Be classified as ‘Overseas’ for fees.
- Be ordinarily resident in Gaza or the West Bank, or have been so until the escalation of conflict in October 2023.
Priority Consideration:
- Applicants currently residing in Gaza or displaced Palestinians in refugee camps.
- Those who do not hold a prior Masters degree or have not studied outside Palestine.
Who Isn’t Eligible
You are not eligible if you:
- Apply for a Masters degree outside the University of Sussex.
- Are progressing into the final year of an integrated Masters at Sussex.
- Intend to study one of the excluded courses (see below).
Excluded Courses:
- Certificates and Diplomas (including PGCE).
- Courses at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS).
- Courses at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS).
- Courses offered at partner institutes (e.g., International Study Centre).
- Degrees in Social Work (if receiving an NHS bursary).
- Early Years Education (with Early Years Teacher status).
- Masters funded by research councils (e.g., ESRC 1+3 funding).
- Online courses.
- PhD courses.
- School Direct teaching courses.

You must accept an offer for an eligible Masters course at the University of Sussex. - Submit Supporting Documents:

- Why you chose Sussex.
- What you will contribute to the Sussex community.
- Your future contributions to Palestine.
- Selection:
Decisions will be made based on the strength of applicants’ statements.
