The AI4D Africa Scholarship 2025 provides an exciting opportunity for PhD candidates and early career researchers in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). The scholarship is fully funded, covering tuition, research fees, and travel expenses to the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS).

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled in an AI-related PhD program (e.g., machine learning, natural language processing, intelligent robotics) with a supervisor.
- Submit a copy of their PhD admission letter and a support letter from their supervisor.
- Have strong academic credentials and demonstrate a commitment to pursuing an academic career.
- Be fluent in Portuguese or French, the languages of instruction at their host university.
- Be citizens or long-term residents of eligible Sub-Saharan African countries.
- Focus their research on one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Program Objectives
This program, funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), primarily aims to:
- Support female candidates in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Advance research aligned with the SDGs through AI and ML applications.
