Job Overview
The Programs Manager will play a key role in advancing SMEX’s mission by overseeing, planning, implementing, and evaluating projects and programs that safeguard digital rights and promote online freedom across the WANA region. Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, the manager will ensure projects meet objectives, adhere to timelines, and achieve a lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead strategic program plans aligned with SMEX’s objectives.
- Oversee the implementation of SMEX’s project portfolio, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Regularly review project progress with leads and address risks and challenges.
- Support financial management, including budget allocation and reporting.
- Facilitate collaboration between the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team and project leads.
- Mentor and guide team members to foster professional growth.
- Represent SMEX in events, seminars, and stakeholder engagements.
- Strengthen partnerships with project partners, implementing agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Stay informed about regional developments in digital rights and online safety.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Business Administration, Public Health, Political Science, or related fields (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: Proven success in planning and implementing NGO programs.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in budget management and financial reporting.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Effective communication with diverse stakeholders, including donors and partners.
- Strategic goal-setting and planning skills.
- Organizational and time management excellence.
- Familiarity with digital rights issues such as privacy, surveillance, data protection, and freedom of expression.
