The Migration Politics Journal is inviting scholars to submit proposals for the 2025 Author Fellowship in Residence, a one-week intensive residency in Amsterdam for PhD holders and candidates. The fellowship provides an opportunity to develop research into a manuscript ready for submission while working closely with experts from the Amsterdam Research Centre for Migration (ARC-M).
Fellowship Details
- Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Duration: One week in October or November 2025
- Host: Senior Editorial Fellows Saskia Bonjour, Evelyn Ersanilli, and Darshan Vigneswaran
- Publication Opportunity: Selected papers will be considered for Migration Politics journal (platinum open access, single-blind peer review)

What They Are Looking For
Submissions should:
- Offer new theoretical or conceptual insights in Migration Studies

- Contribute conceptually or philosophically to the field
- Demonstrate methodological rigor and transparency
Submission Requirements
Applicants must submit a 1,000-1,500 word proposal by March 15, 2025. The proposal should include:
- Core research question or thesis
- Contribution to scholarly debates, with citations
- Methodological approach
- Empirical material, if applicable (data collection must be completed)
- Preliminary findings
- References (not included in the word limit)
Additional Submission Details:
- Name, institutional affiliation, position, and contact email
- Brief description of data used (for empirical papers)
- Confirmation that the paper is original and not under review elsewhere
- Availability for the residency in October or November 2025
