Mada Masr is hiring a Creative Lead for its Editorial Services unit in Cairo, starting April 2025. This full-time role is ideal for mid-career editors and producers seeking hands-on experience in bilingual editorial work and production management within a growing media organization.
The Editorial Services unit leverages Mada Masr’s decade-long journalistic expertise to support research institutions, cultural organizations, and arts initiatives with editorial production, content development, and storytelling. Past collaborations include partnerships with Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, Hivos, Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, and Aflamuna.
This unit also contributes to Mada Masr’s financial sustainability, exploring alternative revenue streams beyond traditional media funding models.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Management: Collaborate with a co-director to assess client needs, define editorial direction, and manage production budgets.
- Content Strategy & Production: Oversee ideation, content creation, and finalization across text, video, and podcasts.
- Team Coordination: Work with in-house editors and a network of freelancers to maintain editorial quality.
- Business Development: Support the unit’s goal of establishing a sustainable, independent media model.
Skills & Requirements
- Editorial Expertise: Strong text editing skills in English (Arabic proficiency is a plus).
- Multimedia Production: Experience managing video and podcast production.
- Storytelling & Knowledge Production: Interest in digital media, arts, academia, or publishing.
- Political Awareness: Understanding of how content resonates with different audiences.
- Financial Acumen: Ability to develop budgets and assess financial metrics.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Strong teamwork skills.
