The bootcamp aims to empower activists, journalists, and researchers with skills in remote sensing technology, data visualization, and the ethical use of digital tools in conflict settings. It follows the “Crossroads of Crisis: Conflict, Climate, and the Environment in the MENA Region” conference held on 23–24 June. Sessions will be bilingual in Arabic and English.
Objectives:
- Train participants on mapping exercises and interactive maps.
- Explore tools for visualizing and researching the environmental impact of conflict.
- Discuss the use of technology in advocacy, research, and engaging policymakers.
- Understand GIS technology, its applications, and limitations.
Eligibility:
- Researchers, activists, and practitioners from the Arab region (residing locally or in the diaspora).
- Early to mid-career professionals engaged with environmental issues in the MENA region.
- Graduate students studying environmental topics.
- Working knowledge of English and Arabic is required.
