Overview:

Siyasat Arabiya invites submissions for a special issue examining the global surge in far-right movements, particularly in North America and Europe, and the implications of this rise for domestic governance, international relations, and the global order. This issue aims to critically explore the structural transformation of far-right movements as they move from the political margins to the mainstream, with attention to both Western and non-Western contexts.


Themes and Questions:

Submissions may address (but are not limited to) the following topics:

  • The economic, cultural, and media-related causes of far-right ascension
  • The impact on liberal democracy, pluralism, and civic institutions
  • The reshaping of international relations, international law, and human rights
  • Western far-right alignment with authoritarian regimes and colonial ideologies
  • The ideological and political support for Israeli policies by far-right actors
  • Comparative case studies (e.g., India, Argentina) and theoretical analyses of far-right dynamics outside the West

  • Proposal Length: Approximately 250 words
  • Proposal Deadline: Saturday, 30 August 2025
  • Notification of Acceptance: Thursday, 9 October 2025
  • Final Paper Submission Deadline: Saturday, 25 April 2026
  • Languages: Papers may be submitted in Arabic or English
  • Length of Full Paper: To follow the journal’s guidelines (generally between 6,000–9,000 words)
