Role Purpose
Join the BBC’s forensics and verification team to lead on Arabic-language open-source investigations, fact-checks, and fast-response verification—supporting breaking news and longform journalism. You’ll also present findings on live TV and across digital platforms, helping build trust through transparent, evidence-based reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify videos, images, and social media content using OSINT tools
- Geo-/chrono-locate events using satellite imagery
- Fact-check and debunk misinformation during breaking news
- Present content creatively across BBC Arabic TV, web, and social media
- Commission graphics and support audience understanding
- Collaborate with BBC Persian, BBC Verify, BBC World Service Longform, etc.
- Support investigations from pitch to final publication
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong track record in open-source/forensic journalism
- Experience turning Arabic-language content into engaging digital/TV stories
- Fluent Arabic and English (written and spoken)
- Confident presenter or potential to become one
- Understands BBC Editorial Policy, Legal, and High Risk frameworks
- Skilled in social media engagement and collaborative remote working
- Self-starter able to manage tight deadlines
