About the Fellowship
The EDUFI Fellowship, offered by the Finnish National Agency for Education, provides international doctoral students with the opportunity to conduct short-term research at Finnish universities.
This programme supports students from various academic disciplines who are:
- Preparing to start doctoral studies in Finland
- Pursuing a double or joint degree in cooperation with a Finnish university
- Currently enrolled in a PhD programme abroad and seeking research opportunities in Finland
The fellowship aims to foster global academic collaboration and strengthen the international profile of Finnish higher education.
Duration & Funding
- 3–12 months of research in Finland
- Monthly grant of up to €1,500 (for living expenses)
- Some universities may offer additional support, such as housing or research funds
- Travel, lodging, visa, and insurance costs are not included in the grant
Eligibility Criteria
- Application must be submitted by a Finnish university department on behalf of the candidate
- Candidates must be non-Finnish doctoral students
- Must not have spent more than one year in Finland before applying
- Cannot have received an EDUFI Fellowship for more than 12 consecutive months
- Must have a supervisor and host university in Finland willing to oversee the research
- Strong research or study plan and relevant academic documents required
