The MIT History Section invites applications for two 2-year Postdoctoral Fellowships in Middle Eastern History as part of the new History of Now Initiative.
We welcome applications from outstanding junior scholars whose research engages Arab and/or Jewish history in the Middle East and North Africa across any time period. Preference will be given to scholars focusing on Palestinian and/or Israeli history or the history of Jewish-Muslim relations.
Position Details:
- Appointment: Full-time, 2-year fellowship
- Eligibility: Ph.D. in History (or a related field) awarded within the last 5 years, completed by July 2026
- Residency: Fellows are expected to be in full-time residence at MIT during the academic year
- Mentorship: Each fellow will be paired with a faculty committee for mentoring
- Opportunities: Fellows will present work-in-progress to MIT History faculty and organize a first-book manuscript workshop

I recently obtained my PhD in international law not up to a week now from the famous University of Lisbon. I obtained my LL.M from the University of Fribourg Switzerland. I worked at the United Nations human rights commission Geneva at Middle East and North Africa MENA section where l developed the interest on Israeli/Palestine history before embarking on my PhD. I am an author and editor-in-chief of a Journal article. I am a peer reviewer for academic.edu.
l have interest in working on the Israeli-Palestine history and relationship and would like to make this application if you so permit me.
