CIHRS is now accepting applications for Tamkeen, a ten-month semi-academic learning program designed to foster critical thinking and advanced analysis in human rights practice across the Arab region.


What is Tamkeen?

  • A 10-month learning journey combining:
    • Online academic engagement
    • An in-person 6-day intensive workshop in Marseille
  • Focuses on critically examining:
    • Political, cultural, economic, and historical narratives
    • The ways these narratives shape and often undermine human rights work
  • Brings together human-rights leaders, program managers, and researchers from across the Arab region

Who Should Apply?

  • Leaders and senior staff of human rights organizations
  • Program directors and managers
  • Researchers and independent activists
  • Applicants must:
    • Be aged 25–40
    • Be from:
      Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, or Jordan
    • Conduct and write research in Arabic
