Uppsala University’s Department of Government is inviting applications for at least three fully funded PhD positions in Political Science, starting in September 2026. The department is one of the leading political science research environments in the Nordic region, with a strong international profile.
About the Programme
The doctoral programme runs for four years and is offered as full-time doctoral employment. PhD candidates are expected to actively participate in research and departmental activities. Teaching or administrative duties of up to 20% may be included, with a corresponding extension of the contract. Some positions may be linked to specific research projects.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent)
- Have completed at least 90 ECTS in political science
- Meet general eligibility requirements (240 ECTS total, including 60 at advanced level)
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in English or Swedish (TOEFL/IELTS required if prior studies were not conducted in these languages)
All eligibility requirements must be met by 1 August 2026.
