The Global Africa Translation Fellowship, offered by The Africa Institute (Sharjah) under its African Languages and Translation Program, supports high-quality translations of significant intellectual, literary, and cultural works from Africa and its diaspora.
The fellowship is non-residential and open to applicants from the Global South, allowing fellows to work from anywhere.
Key Details
- Funding: USD 1,000–5,000
- Languages: Translations into English or Arabic are strongly encouraged (other languages considered)
- Eligible Works: Literature, poetry, critical theory, history, philosophy, politics, and interdisciplinary scholarship
- Project Status: New or ongoing projects, provided they can be completed during the fellowship period
