“Resisting Defeatism” program explores the tension between defeatism—passive acceptance of hardship—and resistance, emphasizing the transformative power of imagination and creativity in envisioning a hopeful future. Participants are invited to reflect on how art and content creation can foster resilience and inspire collective action against the backdrop of humanitarian crises and diminishing liberties.

Program Overview:

The Tae’thir project aims to promote human rights in the Mediterranean through young people’s artistic and digital practices. It provides spaces for creativity and dialogue, focusing on fostering critical thinking and addressing societal issues like censorship, patriarchy, and restricted freedoms.

Activities:

  1. Online Training/Reflection:
    • Exploration of human rights issues.
    • Exchange of ideas and experiences in art and content creation.
  2. Mentorship Program:
    • Guidance on producing and disseminating creative projects.
    • Support in technical, financial, and conceptual aspects.
  3. Workshop in Marseille:
    • Networking opportunities with artists, content creators, and local actors.
    • Development of collaborative projects.

Opportunities for Selected Works:

  • Financial support of up to €3,000 for 10–11 projects.
  • Public presentation in Marseille during the Les Instants Vidéo Festival in May 2026.

Eligibility:

  • Open to young artists and content creators from 17 Mediterranean countries.

Timeline:

  • Sub-grant Announcement: September 2025.
  • Final Presentation: May 2026 in Marseille.

This initiative provides a platform to inspire collective hope and action through the arts, fostering a culture of human rights in the Mediterranean region.
