The Sawiris Arts & Culture Scholarship (SACS) offers higher education scholarships for Bachelor’s, Master’s, residencies, and apprenticeships to talented, socially engaged Egyptian applicants in arts and culture. It aims to nurture future artists who will contribute to Egypt’s development through their craft.
Fields of Study
- Performing Arts: Theatre, drama, dance, acting, directing, spoken word, etc.
- Music: Singing, songwriting, music production, etc.
- Visual Arts: Fine arts, sculpture, photography, video art, etc.
- Film Studies: Filmmaking, scriptwriting, cinematography, etc.
Where to Study?
- Programs must be at pre-approved universities.
Funding Period
- Degree Programs:
- Up to 4 years for Bachelor’s degrees.
- Up to 2 years for Master’s degrees.
- Residencies/Apprenticeships:
- Maximum of 1 year.
Scholarship Benefits
Covers:
- Tuition fees, learning materials, accommodation, living allowance, airfare, transportation, and health insurance.
Eligibility Criteria
General Criteria:
- Egyptian nationals residing in Egypt.
- Conditional admission to an approved university.
- Community engagement and commitment to returning to Egypt for 2-3 years post-study.
- Preference for those who haven’t lived abroad for over three years.
Music and Performing Arts Applicants:
- Music students: Level 5 certification from Trinity College London or Royal Schools of Music.
- Submit at least 5 performances (solo for music applicants).
Residency/Apprenticeship Applicants:
- Must be professional artists with relevant experience and acceptance to a prominent program.

- Scholarship announcement: December 16, 2024
- Application deadline: April 30, 2025
