
The Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies and the Middle Eastern Studies Forum at Stanford Global Studies invites applications for the inaugural Palestinian Studies Postdoctoral Fellowship. This is a unique opportunity for scholars to engage in pioneering research, teaching, and programming in the field of Palestinian studies at one of the world’s leading universities.
Fellowship Details
- Term Length: Two years (Fall 2025–2027), with a possible third-year extension.
- Host Departments:
- Department of Anthropology
- Department of History
- Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages (DLCL)
- Department of Political Science
- Annual Stipend: $85,000–$95,000 (depending on qualifications).
- Additional Funding:
- $6,000 annual research account.
- $9,000 one-time relocation and equipment allowance.
- Benefits: Eligibility for Stanford employee benefits.
Fellowship Responsibilities
- Teaching Requirements:
- Year 1: Undergraduate course.
- Year 2: Graduate-level course.
- Year 3 (if extended): Course of the fellow’s choice.
- Residency Requirement: Fellows must reside in the Stanford area during the fellowship period.
- Community Engagement: Active participation in the intellectual and academic programming of the Abbasi Program, host department, and other related units.
Eligibility
- PhD Requirement: Applicants must have completed their PhD by August 31, 2025.
- Career Stage: No more than three years beyond the receipt of their doctoral degree at the start of the fellowship.
- Disciplines: Open to scholars in fields represented by the host departments.
