The Action Network on Forced Displacement is seeking new members to join its global initiative aimed at championing feminist leadership and self-representation for displaced women and marginalized groups. This network supports the social, economic, and political participation of displaced women across the world, creating platforms for advocacy and leadership.

About the Network

  • Composed of 30 members from diverse displacement contexts.
  • Supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
  • Collaborates with the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund, which funds grassroots organizations globally.

Opportunities for New Members

New members will:

  • Co-create and participate in network convenings, including the upcoming event on 8–10 April 2025 in Berlin.
  • Represent the network at international conferences and policy discussions on displacement and gender.
  • Engage in decision-making for the Funding Initiative on Forced Displacement, such as pre-selecting grassroots organization applications.
  • Share expertise through mentoring schemes, such as online webinars.
  • Take on internal roles (e.g., spokesperson, treasurer, or communication specialist).
  • Facilitate initiatives driven by the network.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Have lived experience of displacement.
  • Identify as a woman and/or a member of the LGBTIQ+ community.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Adopt a feminist, intersectional perspective.
  • Be actively engaged in displacement-related work (e.g., NGOs, activism, academia, politics).
  • Show capacity for regular engagement with the network.

Preference: Applicants from Africa are strongly encouraged to apply, as the network aims to enhance diversity in its membership.
