The LSE Human Rights Blog invites critical and interdisciplinary perspectives on human rights from all contributors, regardless of affiliation with LSE. Below are the guidelines and processes for submitting content.
Editorial Process
- Submitting Your Pitch:
- Complete the submission form to pitch your idea.
- Indicate if the topic is time-sensitive (e.g., breaking news).
- Acceptance and Editing:
- Accepted pitches will receive a response, and you’ll be assigned two editors to help develop your draft.
- Be prepared for a thorough editorial process that may take several weeks.
- Revisions and Engagement:
- Submit your draft for review. Editors will provide feedback for revisions.
- Engage with reader comments post-publication through the Editorial Board.
Content Guidelines
- Length: 500–1000 words (excluding references).
- Tone: Academic, thought-provoking, and accessible, avoiding polemics.
- Perspective:
- Submissions must be original, unpublished work.
- Adopt an evaluative argument rather than a descriptive approach.
- Analyze human rights issues in local contexts while connecting them to global trends.
- Prohibited Content:
- Hate language, stereotypes, and denial of historical events.
Submission Formats
- Text-Based Posts: Reviews, commentary, interviews, analyses, or reports.
- Audio-Visual Contributions: Short films or audio content with an introductory paragraph.
Formatting and Referencing
- References: Use in-text hyperlinks to sources, not footnotes or endnotes.
- Images:
- Authors may include images, ensuring they do not violate copyright.
- Approval is required for cross-posting content on personal blogs.
