Völkerrechtsblog is inviting blog post proposals for the 4th edition of its annual symposium, “Women in International Law”, which will take place online from March 3–7, 2025. This year’s theme will address current developments impacting women in conflict zones and beyond, alongside broader feminist approaches to international law.

Focus Areas

Contributions may explore topics such as:

  1. Conflict Zones and Beyond:
    • Israel-Palestine Conflict
    • Iran after March 2024 elections
    • Afghanistan under Taliban rule
  2. United Nations Initiatives:
    • Re-commitment to ending violence against women.
    • 25th Anniversary of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
  3. Broader Critical and Contemporary Topics:
    • Climate change impacts on women’s equality and rights.
    • Gender-based violence in the digital sphere.
    • Legal challenges in asylum claims involving intimate partner violence.
    • Alternative approaches to international law (e.g., FAIL, TWAIL, SWAIL).

Submissions that critically analyze international law from a feminist or gendered perspective are especially encouraged.
