Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent research on peace, conflict, and fragility from a transnational or transregional perspective, with a preference for the MENA region. Potential topics include:
- Conflict resolution and peace agreements.
- Transregional peace initiatives.
- Social and transnational movements in conflict settings.
- Transnational violence networks.
- Diaspora involvement in conflicts.
- Political or military interventions by external actors.
- Socio-ecological and armed conflicts.
- Publish academic work and build a strong research profile.
- Participate in the institute’s ongoing research activities.
- Develop third-party funded research proposals.
Your Profile
- PhD: Completed in political science, sociology, or related social sciences.
- Publication Record: Established track record of academic publications.
- Languages:
- Proficiency in English.
- Regional language skills (advantageous).
- Basic German skills can be acquired after hiring.
- Fieldwork: Experience in conducting fieldwork and willingness to undertake it in safe locations.
- Grant Experience: Familiarity with securing research funding (preferred).
- Advisory/Consultancy Work: Experience in applied research contexts (advantageous).
Position Details
- Workplace: Freiburg, Germany.
- Appointment: 75% of full-time (option for full-time based on grant funding).
- Flexibility: No teaching or administrative duties.
- Advancement: Potential for extension and full-time employment through successful grant applications.
