The Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP) open call for 2025-2026  Nonresident Fellowship Program supports advocates, researchers, journalists, and lawyers from or with significant ties to the MENA region. The program provides fellows with resources to drive policy-relevant analysis, media engagement, and advocacy while building their expertise and networks.

Fellowship Mandate & Focus Areas

Fellows propose a specific topic and geographic focus for their mandate. TIMEP is particularly interested in mandates covering:

  • Governance & Politics
  • Law & Accountability
  • Security & Conflict
  • Migration & Displacement
  • Energy & Environment
  • Digital & Cyberspace
  • Gender & Sexuality
  • Religious & Ethnic Minorities
  • Development & Economy
  • Media & Press
  • Arts & Culture
  • Social Movements

TIMEP’s priority countries include Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Syria, and Lebanon, though proposals covering other North African and Levant countries are welcome.

Two designated fellowships will be awarded:

  • Sarah Hegazi Nonresident Fellow
  • Mohamed Aboelgheit Nonresident Fellow
    Applicants can express interest in these fellowships during the application process.

Eligibility Criteria

  • At least five years of work or academic experience in a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken).
  • Demonstrated commitment to TIMEP’s mission and principles.
  • Strong connections to civil society, grassroots groups, or experts on the ground.

Preference will be given to applicants living or working in the MENA region.
