AMWAJ and Heinrich-Boell-Stiftung Middle East are offering a free training series for early-career journalists from Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Jordan, and Egypt. This program provides an introductory and practical approach to reporting on climate change and environmental justice in the MENA region.

What to Expect

  • Interactive training combining lectures, group work, and discussions.
  • Insights into climate reporting, including ethical considerations, risks, and safety measures.
  • Networking opportunities to collaborate with fellow journalists and environmental experts.
  • Hands-on experience in multimedia reporting for climate and environmental issues in conflict-affected regions.

Eligibility

  • Open to early-career journalists from the listed MENA countries.
  • Applicants should either be fresh graduates pursuing environmental journalism or have 1-2 years of journalism experience.

Training Structure (Online Sessions)

  • Duration: Two half-day sessions every two weeks over two months.
  • Language: Sessions in English, with content submission allowed in Arabic or English.
  • Modules:
    • March-April 2025: Knowledge, discourses, and solutions.
    • April-May 2025: Skills and new perspectives.
    • May 2025: Risks, safety, and challenges.
    • May 2025: Development of a journalistic piece (individual or group work).
