The Mandela Rhodes Scholarship supports postgraduate studies at accredited South African institutions. It covers a one-year Honours degree or up to a two-year Master’s degree. Scholars must:
- Adhere to the program’s principles.
- Attend leadership workshops and activities, including the Second Year Programme for Master’s students.
- Have the option to participate in a mentoring program.
- Be under 30 years old, hold a first degree, and be a citizen of an African country.
2. Conditions of Tenure
- Scholars must uphold high academic and ethical standards.
- Breaching program values may result in termination.
- Other scholarships cannot be held simultaneously.
- Scholars may work up to 12 hours per week with Foundation approval.
3. Financial Coverage
The scholarship provides funding for:
- Tuition and registration fees.
- Study materials.
- Accommodation and meals.
- Medical aid.
- Travel expenses for international scholars.
- A personal allowance.
Funds are disbursed based on proof of registration and progress reports. Pre-existing student debts are the scholar’s responsibility.
