The AfOx Visiting Fellowship Program is designed to support exceptional African researchers in building global networks and conducting independent research in collaboration with Oxford-based scholars. The fellowship spans 12 months, including:
- 2-month residency at the University of Oxford during Trinity Term (April to June)
- 10 months of virtual engagement with Oxford’s academic community
The program is partnered with various key institutions at Oxford, including:
- TORCH
- The Oxford Department for International Development
- The Pandemic Sciences Institute
- The Faculty of Law
- The Mathematical Institute
- The Refugee Studies Center
- The African Studies Center
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be an African national or have an indefinite stay permit in an African country
- Must be employed at an African university or research center in an African nation
- Must hold citizenship in the country where the institution is based
Host Country: United Kingdom (UK)
Eligible Countries: African Countries
Benefits:
- £1,000 Catalyst Grant for collaborative research
- Accommodation during the in-person residency
- Visa fees covered
- Return economy flight ticket, airport transfers, and a maintenance allowance of up to £250 per week during residency
- Library access, private study space, and University card for access to Oxford’s facilities
- Temporary membership in the Senior Common Room of the host college
