Theme: “The ‘Post-Liberal Moment’: A Paradigm Shift or a Passing Trend?”

The seventh International Winter School (IWS7) invites applications from advanced PhD candidates and early career scholars in the social sciences and humanities. This year’s theme addresses the contemporary challenges to liberal democracy, its evolving dynamics, and implications for the international order, especially considering the rise of authoritarianism and shifts in global governance.
Participants will engage with leading academics, receive peer feedback, and have the opportunity to contribute to an edited volume based on their research.
Topics May Include (but are not limited to):
- Theoretical perspectives on post-liberalism
- Nativism, identity politics, and inclusive citizenship
- Economic nationalism, sovereignty, and protectionism
- Crisis of legitimacy in liberal democracies
- Authoritarianism and electoral autocracies
- Shrinking civic space and academic freedom
- Global South perspectives on rights and democracy
Eligibility Criteria
- PhD candidates (advanced stage)
- Recent PhD graduates or early career researchers
- Relevant academic background in social sciences or humanities
