Purpose:

To support Palestinian artists, collectives, and cultural organisations by providing a creative residency that fosters artistic production, community engagement, and international exchange—especially in response to the increasing challenges faced by the Palestinian cultural sector amid the ongoing war on Gaza.


Objectives:

  • Support production of new, meaningful artistic work by Palestinian creatives.
  • Engage and share outcomes with the public in Jerusalem, Palestine, and beyond (digitally).
  • Activate British Council premises for artistic use (e.g., studios, workshops, exhibitions).
  • Build a strong community of Palestinian artists through collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
  • Provide a platform for Palestinian creatives to connect with the UK cultural sector.

Funding Offered:

  • 5 grants of up to £5,000 GBP
  • Residency hosted at British Council Jerusalem
  • Three residency rounds, each lasting 3 months

Eligibility:

  • Palestinian artists, collectives, or cultural organisations based in or with access to East Jerusalem.
  • Open to all art disciplines: music, film, literature, visual arts, digital art, architecture, fashion, crafts, etc.
  • Organisational applicants must propose projects that directly support local artists.
  • Projects must make active use of the British Council premises.
  • Both new applicants and past grantees are welcome to apply.
  • Must benefit young creatives (18+) and wider local audiences.
  • Artists with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
