About the Programme
The Migration Law and Policymaking Course (MiLAP) is a one-week, full-time residential training for mid- to senior-level civil servants in Africa working on migration issues. This highly interactive programme convenes twice per year at IOM’s ACBC in Moshi, Tanzania, and equips participants with practical skills to design and evaluate national migration policies.
Training Content
- International Migration Law
- Evidence-Based Migration Policy Development
- Evaluating Policy Effectiveness
The training combines lectures, interactive sessions, and practical workshops with a maximum of 20 participants per intake for optimal engagement.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be fluent in English (spoken & written)
- Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree
- Occupy a senior policy-related position dealing with migration in one of the target countries (Algeria, Egypt, Ghana, Gambia, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Somalia, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda)
Application Requirements
- Motivation letter (explaining interest & commitment)
- Recent CV (work experience, education, other training)
- Copy of valid passport (valid at least 3 months post-training)
- Passport photo
- Degree certificates
- Proof of English proficiency (test score or self-declaration)
- Employer support letter (confirming full-time release during training)
Scholarships
Selected participants will receive full funding, including:
- Round-trip travel to Tanzania
- Internal transfers
- Accommodation and meals
- Tanzanian entry visa (if required)
