The British Embassy in Cairo is seeking a qualified and motivated Assistant Political Officer (Administrative Officer level) to join its Political and Economic Section on a one-year fixed-term contract.
About the Role
The position supports the Embassy’s efforts to strengthen the UK–Egypt relationship through policy analysis, coordination of high-level visits, and engagement with Egyptian institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and organizational support to the Political and Economic Section.
- Coordinate ministerial and senior official visits to Egypt.
- Support engagement with the Egyptian government and other stakeholders.
- Provide research, analysis, and written/oral advice on foreign policy and humanitarian issues.
- Contribute to programme management and Embassy events.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- University degree in Political Science or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of Egypt’s political and foreign policy context.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic (written and spoken).
- Proven organizational, research, and writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines.
Desirable:
- Experience in political or policy work, particularly on foreign policy or humanitarian issues.

Contract Type: Full-time, fixed-term (12 months)
Salary: USD 1,049/month (gross)
