The International Fellowships programme supports outstanding early career researchers based outside the UK to conduct independent, high-quality research at a UK host institution. The scheme is jointly run by the British Academy and the Royal Society.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Hold a PhD (or complete it before 1 June 2026)
- Have no more than 5 years postdoctoral experience
- Be working outside the UK and not hold UK citizenship
- Demonstrate strong English proficiency
- Have a clearly defined research project with a UK host researcher
Funding
- 2-year fellowship at 80% FEC
- Up to £12,000 for research expenses
- Up to £8,000 for relocation costs
- Access to post-fellowship alumni networking funding

To attract international research talent to the UK, support innovative research, and build long-term global research networks.
