The Middle East Council on Global Affairs (ME Council) is seeking a Research Assistant to support its Conflict and Security program. This full-time position involves research assistance, editorial support, project coordination, and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

Research and Editorial Support

  • Conduct literature reviews, data collection, and analysis.
  • Proofread and edit publications for accuracy and professionalism.
  • Draft abstracts, briefing memos, and project proposals.
  • Monitor current news and developments in relevant research areas.

Program/Project Coordination

  • Support research and publication processes for papers and op-eds.
  • Organize calls, meetings, and events.
  • Coordinate with scholars, consultants, and interns.
  • Engage stakeholders and conduct background research.

Administrative Support

  • Manage files and respond to information requests.
  • Assist in organizing meetings, seminars, and conferences.
  • Draft meeting minutes and event summaries.

Requirements

  • Education: B.A. in economics, sociology, political science, or related social sciences (M.A. preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum two years with a B.A. or one year with an M.A.
  • Skills:
    • Strong research, writing, and analytical abilities.
    • Proficiency in English and Arabic writing/editing.
    • Knowledge of political, social, and economic issues in the MENA region.
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
