Crisis Group seeks a senior Middle East expert to oversee its Middle East & North Africa (MENA) Program. The Program Director will lead research, analysis, and advocacy efforts related to conflict prevention and resolution in the region. The role involves supervising a team of approximately 20 staff, coordinating field-based research, engaging with key stakeholders, and ensuring the security of personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team in a collaborative and efficient manner.
  • Establish and implement a conflict-focused research and advocacy agenda.
  • Oversee and coordinate high-quality research and analysis on crisis situations.
  • Engage with government officials, NGOs, media, and international organizations to advocate Crisis Group’s recommendations.
  • Expand the advocacy program and enhance the public/private impact of Crisis Group’s work.
  • Ensure staff security through proper protocols.
  • Support fundraising efforts with government and private donors.

Requirements

  • PhD or Master’s degree in international relations, political science, law, journalism, or related field.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in conflict analysis, journalism, NGOs, or international organizations, with expertise in MENA.
  • Strong regional knowledge and extensive network of contacts.
  • Experience with governance, security-sector reform, and institution-building.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and policy-formulation skills.
  • Strong public speaking, teamwork, and supervisory experience.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken).
  • Extensive travel required.
