The American Political Science Association (APSA) is pleased to announce a Call for Applications for early-career MENA scholars who are interested in attending the 2025 APSA Annual Meeting as part of a Research Development Group (RDG). Organized in partnership with the MENA Politics Section, the program offers scholars an opportunity to advance research manuscripts toward publication, participate in the annual meeting, and develop scholarly networks with colleagues.

Participation in the RDG is open to early-career scholars (graduate students, post-docs, and faculty members who have been on the tenure track for less than three full years) whose research focuses on the MENA region. Scholars currently based in the MENA region are encouraged to apply. Up to six applicants will be selected and eligible for an APSA Travel Grant of up to $1,000 to support eligible travel and accommodation expenses.

Program Overview:

The RDG provides early-career scholars focused on the MENA region an opportunity to:

  • Advance research manuscripts toward publication
  • Participate in the APSA Annual Meeting
  • Build international scholarly networks

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • Be graduate students, post-docs, or early-career faculty (within first 3 years of tenure-track)
  • Focus their research on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region
  • Preference is given to scholars currently based in the MENA region

Benefits:

  • Selected participants (up to 6) will receive:
    • An APSA Travel Grant of up to $1,000 to support travel and accommodation
    • Full participation in the Research Development Group and APSA Annual Meeting
