About the Assignment

UN Women seeks a national consultant to review community-level mediation efforts under the Women, Peace and Security in the Arab States Project (Phase III) in Lebanon. The consultant will assess the work of Women’s Mediation Groups, focusing on their roles, challenges, achievements, visibility, and impact on peacebuilding, gender equality, and social cohesion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project documents and monitoring data
  • Develop methodology and data collection tools
  • Conduct field visits, interviews, and focus group discussions
  • Assess mediation groups by region, conflict types, achievements, and challenges
  • Build a database of local women mediators (profiles, skills, gaps, needs)
  • Identify good practices, success stories, and sustainability strategies
  • Draft and finalize a comprehensive review report

Deliverables

  1. Inception report – 15 Sept 2025
  2. Preliminary findings – 15 Oct 2025 (50% payment)
  3. Draft report – 31 Oct 2025
  4. Final report & database – 15 Nov 2025 (50% payment)

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in gender studies, peace/conflict studies, IR, sociology, or related field (Bachelor’s with 2 extra years accepted)
  • Min. 5 years’ experience in M&E, research, policy analysis, and reporting (preferably with international organizations)
  • Proven expertise in designing/implementing M&E frameworks, qualitative & quantitative research, and data visualization
  • Strong reporting and communication skills in English and Arabic
  • Proficiency in MS Office and statistical software (STATA/R)

Languages: Fluency in English & Arabic required
